A BLEND OF INDIVIDUAL VOICES &
THE POWER OF ARTISTIC EXPRESSION
Singing has the ability to transform lives: the lives of those who listen to music as well as those who participate in its performance. Musicians at Council Rock High School North are offered opportunities for self-expression, aesthetic awareness and the constant challenge of striving for excellence. It is this challenge that inspires everything we do.
Students are exposed to a wide variety of quality choral literature that broadens perspective about life and the human condition. Connections to history, poetry, politics, world cultures, languages, folklore, and literature are made in ways that are different and more personal than a regular academic classroom. Choral music provides students a deeper awareness of emotion in an amazingly profound way…it is a journey that we take together, but has a unique and special destination for everyone. Ultimately, the concert stage performance is a reflection of the unity that comes from teamwork, the blend of individual voices and the power of artistic expression.
OUR CHOIRS
Council Rock's North Choirs is a vibrant choral department consisting of three ensembles: Symphonic Choir, NorthVoice, and Rhythm of the Rock. North Choirs perform a wide variety of repertoire, from classical to pop and everything in-between, singing and competing throughout the region and beyond. Every 3-4 years, all choir students have the opportunity to participate in a Concert Tour, with recent trips to Portugal, Spain, and Texas.
Symphonic
Symphonic Choir is an advanced level ensemble. Students in this group perform the highest level of high school choral literature, and demonstrate high skill levels. Students advance their vocal and choral skills with an emphasis on tone production, breathing, diction, musicality, music reading proficiency and rehearsal techniques. A variety of advanced choral literature, ranging from Renaissance to contemporary, is studied and performed in concert.
NorthVoice
NorthVoice is Council Rock North's highly-competitive, auditioned select ensemble. NorthVoice sings at a variety of events in school and throughout the community, and performs a varied repertoire of mostly a cappella music. Auditions for NorthVoice are held in the spring for the following school year. All members of NorthVoice sing in Symphonic Choir as well.
Rhythm of the Rock
Rhythm of the Rock (ROTR) is Council Rock North's premiere pop a cappella singing ensemble. This is an auditioned group that sings in the style of modern pop a cappella and uses individual voices to convey lyrics as well as individual instruments (such as Bass) and drums. The group often features soloists and a vocal percussion. This highly competitive group also performs with staging and movement. Those who love to sing AND move AND perform thrive in this group.
